Dayara Bugyal is one of the most stunning alpine meadow treks in Uttarakhand. Starting from Raithal village in Uttarkashi, the trail climbs gently through oak, pine and rhododendron forests before opening into a giant grassland that feels endless. The views here hit different. Snow peaks like Bandarpoonch, Draupadi Ka Danda and Jaonli rise sharply over the meadows, giving massive 360 degree scenery ⛰️.
The meadow changes every season. In summer, it turns bright green with wildflowers. Autumn brings crystal skies and golden grass, while winter covers the entire bugyal in a pure white snow blanket ❄️. The trek stays quiet, beginner friendly and perfect for families, solo trekkers and first timers.
Dayara Bugyal is also a great sunrise point. Morning light touches the peaks and spreads over the meadow, creating a calm and surreal moment. It is one of the easiest high altitude meadow treks that still gives huge Himalayan views without any difficult sections. If you want open sky vibes, peaceful camps and wide landscapes, Dayara Bugyal is the ideal choice.
Reach Raithal village in Uttarkashi. Check in to a homestay, meet your guide, and explore the village. Have dinner and rest.
Start trekking through dense oak and rhododendron forest. The trail is gradual and shaded. Reach Gui campsite by afternoon. Relax, enjoy mountain views and settle into your tent.
Begin early. A short climb brings you to the wide meadow of Dayara Bugyal. Spend time exploring, taking photos and enjoying peak views. After lunch on the meadow, return to Gui camp for the night.
Descend back to Raithal through the same forest route. Freshen up, have lunch and depart for your onward travel.
Dayara Bugyal is an easy to moderate trek, ideal for beginners. The trail has gradual climbs through forest zones and gentle slopes on the meadows, making it comfortable for most trekkers. No technical sections are involved, and the ascent is smooth, so even first timers can complete it with basic preparation and steady pacing.
The trek is beautiful year round, but summer and autumn offer the best conditions. Summer brings green meadows and mild weather, while autumn provides clear skies and sharp mountain views. Winter transforms the entire meadow into a snow field, perfect for snow lovers. Avoid peak monsoon because the trail becomes slippery.
The meadow is located at around 3400 meters. This altitude is comfortable for trekkers since the climb is spread across two days. The gradual ascent helps with acclimatization, and most trekkers reach the top without any altitude problems when they maintain hydration and follow a steady pace.
Campsites like Gui offer flat ground, scenic views and enough space for tents. Trekkers stay in sturdy tents with sleeping bags and mats provided. The location stays peaceful with forest surroundings, making it a calm and relaxing place to spend the night. Toilets and kitchen tents are usually set up nearby.
A guide is recommended for safety, navigation and correct route management. Forest sections have multiple turns, so having a local guide ensures you stay on track. They also help identify weather changes, set proper timings and manage campsites, making the trek safer and more comfortable for beginners.
